Resting membrane potential was the average potential recorded over 200 ms prior to a 200 ms, 300 pA current injection. Membrane resistance was calculated using a 100 pA hyperpolarising current injection. Membrane capacitance was calculated from the input resistance and the time constant, as Cm = τm/Rin.
