  • The number of observations is given in parentheses. Spontaneous IPSCs (sIPSCs) were recorded in saline containing 20 μm DNQX and 40 μm AP5. Evoked IPSCs were elicited with a 20 μA stimulus delivered to str. radiatum within 50 μm of the recorded cell in the presence of 20 μm DNQX and 40 μm AP5. ph-EPSPs were elicited with a 2 ms laser pulse duration and identical laser intensity in control saline or in Mg2+-free saline in the presence of 20 μm DNQX (ph-NMDA-EPSP). There were no statistically significant differences between lesioned and unlesioned cultures for any response.
