Values are means ± SE. The "Connected" group includes both presynaptic and postsynaptic cells. With "Non-connected," we denote
the group of paired recordings not revealing any connectivity. This, however, does not imply that the recorded cells were
not connected to non-recorded cells. Note that action potential amplitude was quantified with reference to spike threshold
level. Differences between values of each group were not statistically significant (P > 0.1, t-test for independent values). Rmp, resting membrane potential; Rin, input resistance; τ, membrane time constant; Ap, action potential.
